Lush The Soft Touch Hand Butter review

The Soft Touch is a solid hand butter treatment from Lush. Made with “plant oils and butters to soften your skin and keep your hands smooth and seriously moisturised. “ I am a big fan of solid products with minimal packaging so is The Soft Touch any good?

The Bar

The Soft Touch is a solid bar and feels similar to other massage bars offered by Lush. It is a pale orange colour and has a simple hatching style pattern on the top. Luckily there is no glitter, bright colours or chocolate to stain clothes or put off male users.

The bar contains cocoa butter, shea butter, extra virgin coconut oil and beeswax to provide a deep moisturising treatment. The bar is scented with vanilla, lemon, cardamom, lavender and neroli. The resulting scent of these combined oils is soothing and ideal for use at bedtime.

How to Use

The bar is an overnight treatment- so it is a little oiler than a normal hand moisturiser. The best way to use it is to hold it in your hands and let the heat melt naturally. Once it feels like your hands are coated, massage and smooth into skin.

If my hands are feeling particularly dry and in need of moisture I spend about ten minutes really slathering it on. Then I pop on a pair of old cotton gloves for an hour or so before going to bed. Doing this makes the oils penetrate deep into skin making skin feel incredibly soft.

Results

I am impressed with the results of this hand butter- in fact I also use it on my feet and legs. It is invaluable when moisturising winter skin and eliminates flaky skin. The scent of The Soft Touch is unlike anything else I have ever smelled before. I am a big fan of the spicy, fruity vanilla scent, the neroli brightens my mood and cardamom and vanilla have a comforting effect on my senses.

Value

The Soft Touch is £6.55 for a 90g bar which probably sounds extortionate to many people. However I have been using mine for four months and haven’t even using a tenth of it. It appears that a little goes a long way with The Soft Touch.

This hand butter is just as effective (if not more) as Helping Hands or Smitten. If used properly it provides a deeper nourishment of skin and is ideal for the winter. I would keep it as a winter treat as I have a terrible habit of warming my cold hands on radiators which isn’t very good for my hands. I would recommend this hand butter to anyone with dry hands.
