Lush Enchanted Eye Cream review

This month I have been focusing on skincare. I must admit that eye cream is something that gets neglected in my routine. My old eye cream has been living in my bag for about a year. Needless to say that has been thrown away (well made into a paint stick but that’s a whole other story). When you get to your late twenties eye cream is something you need to think about. As someone who has taken steroid eye drops on and off for ten years the skin around my eyes is giving my age away. As always if a cosmetic issue crops up I turn to Lush, and I ended up purchasing Enchanted Eye Cream.

The eye cream

Enchanted Eye Cream comes in a small plastic bottle and contains 45g of cream. The bottle has an automatic dispenser to avoid contaminating the cream with any bacteria or make up on your finger tips. The cream is white and the consistency is more like a lotion- and I couldn’t detect any scent at all (unusual for a Lush product!). The ingredients as listed on the Lush website:
Lavender Honey Water (Lavendula hybrida, Mel, Aqua) Stearic Acid, Cold Pressed Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis), Glycerine, Cold Pressed Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis), Cetearyl Alcohol, Triethanolamine, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.
Lavender and honey have immense calming properties, I assume the jojoba oil smoothes the skin, and the other ingredients are preservatives necessary to keep the cream fresh.

How to use

After cleansing and toning, put your eye cream on before moisturising your face. I find one pump of the product is more than enough for both eyes. Use your ring finger or little finger to gently pat the cream under each eye, be careful not to get any into your eye.

The cream easily blends into my skin and leaves no stickiness behind. Wait five minutes before applying any makeup- what I liked best was that this cream does not interfere with the effectiveness of my concealer. This has been an issue with some other eye creams I have used in the past.

Results

After only a week of religiously using this product day and night I have noticed a real difference in the texture of the skin around my eyes. The skin tone near the corner of my eyes were discoloured due to the steroid eye drops I had to use. I have noticed the skin is smoother and more even already which amazes me as I thought nothing could be done about the skin on my eyes.

I have even noticed a slight change in the dark circles under my eyes, which is surprising as this is a genetic thing. I have been getting plenty of sleep lately so perhaps this isn’t due to the cream but it is worth a mention.

Overall I am immensely pleased with this product and I can see it becoming a staple in my Lush stash.

Value

The cream costs £9.60 for 45g which I would estimate lasts for 6 months. This is a real bargain compared to most eye creams out there and this one is good as it contains very few ingredients. The last thing you want to do is put lots of chemicals on the delicate skin around your eyes. Now if you are after an eye cream that deals with fine lines and wrinkles then I don’t think Enchanted Eye Cream will make a huge change. This cream is more about moisturising rather than anything else.
