I’ve been looking for a soap which doesn’t leave the shower looking like a mess. My current soap is Porridge also from Lush, and is a really wonderful exfoliator but is a pain to clean up when you are in a rush.
The bar
For those of you have been to Lush will know that all the store’s soap are huge round slabs which you can have cut down to the size and weight you desire or you can chose one of the pre cut slices on top of the slab which are covered in paper with a label stating the weight and price.
Chox Away is a relatively new soap from Lush and luckily has no glitter or scrubby bits that may leave a mess. It is a pale brown colour and has no decoration on it which is unusual for Lush soaps but exactly what I am looking for. The texture is quite smooth and it does seem like the kind of soap which would melt quickly in the shower. This photograph was taken straight after I took the wrapper off and as you can see it marks very easily!
Use
Due to its lack of exfoliating bits this soap in easy to use and does not irritate skin at all. I found the lather to feel quite silky on the skin, and was pleased to find it is very moisturising.
Scent
I was very drawn to the smell of this soap in the store. I couldn’t work out why until I got hope and applied my Honey Trap lip balm. The scents are pretty much the same! I like the soft sweet smell of Honey Trap and am so pleased that Chox Away smells like it.
The scent has a slight hint of chocolate in the background; mostly you can smell hints of vanilla, an almost caramel aroma and the mint and orange hover in the background. It does smell good enough to eat. The smell isn’t very long lasting, however the moisturising properties are.
The Results
Unlike some of other soaps which dry out my skin, Chox Away left it feeling soft and lovely. In fact my hands had been looking awful after doing a spot of DIY and using this soap once got them nice a smooth again.
If you’ve ever tried Heavenly Bodies (one of Lush’s posh soap Butter Creams) you will find this is just as nice without the mess that chocolate curls leave everywhere. I would go far enough to say that Chox Away is my new favourite soap!
Value
Chox Away soap is available for £2.89 per 100g, not cheap really. However I think it is worth every penny. I even skipped the moisturising afterwards as my skin really didn’t need it. Please note this product is not vegan, luckily it is vegetarian like all other Lush products.
I usually steer well clear of chocolate scented products as they usually smell very artificial. But Lush got the scent just right for me- it is sweet without being sickly and the fact that it leaves skin so soft has got me hooked. I will be taking this on holiday with me! If you like Honey Trap lip balm then this is the soap for you! I do hope this soap is here to stay and isn’t just an Easter thing.
