Does it bother you that most desserts have preservatives, eggs, refined flours and sugars? If so I have a very nice recipe for some pretty delicious brownies that don’t have any crap in them.
Ingredients
3 cups brown flour
3 cups unrefined brown sugar
10 soaked almonds (blended or grated)
1 finely chopped fig
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder (I use Bournville)
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
pinch salt
1 cup plain yoghurt (can be adapted for vegans by substituting with water)
2 cups olive oil
Preheat the oven to gas mark 5.
In a large bowl, stir together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, almonds powder, chopped fig, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Add water and vegetable oil and mix carefully. I tend to roll these into balls and then put them onto an oiled baking tray.
Bake for about 30 minutes in the oven. Serve with some homemade icecream!
